I have not said much about the subject of WPS. There were a few occasions when the circumstances called for it, but I otherwise kept it out of the discussions. Our strategies and action plans have been attracting a lot of international attention lately. We received several dignitaries from Europe, Asia, and the Americas in the first half of the year who showed great interest in our activities – all of them signified their unequivocal support to WPS activities. They figured that the Philippines has the momentum in pursuing its WPS objectives.

The conference, with 691 delegates, 27 ministerial levels and parliamentarians from 84 countries across 6 regions, will assess progress on the Women, Peace, and Security agenda and explore ways to strengthen women's role in peacebuilding.
Featuring 2 high-level segments, 23 side events, and 15 exhibit booths, ICWPS 2024 will be graced by Philippine First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Deputy UN Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed.
The international event is expected to adopt the Pasay Declaration to reinvigorate the global efforts for forging collaboration and convergence to push for meaningful and substantive participation of women in all their diverse and intersecting identities in all facets of peace processes. And to guarantee their protection before, during, and after conflict situations.
The theme for the conference is “Forging collaboration and Convergence for Advancing Women, Peace and Security.”

MANILA, PHILIPPINES-—The Philippines will be hosting the first ministerial-level International Conference on Women, Peace and Security (ICWPWS) on October 28-30, 2024, officials announced on Friday, October 4, during a press briefing at the Malacañan Palace.
The conference will be led by the Philippine government through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines will host the International Conference on Women, Peace and Security (ICWPS) later this month, which is expected to be attended by representatives from more than 54 countries from Africa, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and the Asia Pacific.
The conference will be held from Oct. 28 to 30 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
